A ring that has gained much publicity of late due to the Royal Wedding, the blue sapphire which originally marked Princess Diana’s engagement to Prince Charles now graces the very fashionable finger of Kate Middleton (left).

Prince William chose to give Kate the same ring his mother had worn so that there was a way Diana could be with them on their special day. The oval blue sapphire has a jaw dropping 18 carats with 14 diamonds surrounding it. Diana actually bucked royal tradition of picking a one-of-a-kind ring and instead opted for one which was part of a widely available Gerrard Jewellers catalogue priced at £28,000.
